The founder, a professional colorist with more than 30 years of experience behind the chair, tested numerous products but was unable to find a water-based formula that delivered the performance she wanted. Apply Before a Service
Apply a dime-sized amount of Color Stain Guard to your palm and use 1–2 fingers or a small makeup brush to spread evenly along the hairline, ears, neck, and any areas prone to staining. For best results, apply before coloring, or after applying hair color if you forgot.If you forget to apply it before a color service you can still apply it after applying color, just smear in the hair color where hair color will stain the skin.

A little goes a long way. Apply a thin even layer along the hairline. You don't need a thick coat or it can drop down the face. There is no need to reapply during the color service unless you wipe it off the skin for some reason.
